I know people are
probably wondering what kind of freaky person would start a group that
spent time and money searching for what can not be seen. I can
understand the skepticism and even the occasional criticism there. But
rest assured, I am as normal as the next person! I just find this field
fascinating due to the personal experiences I have had with what I
believe are ghosts.
About me: I
grew up in a small town (Cisco, TX) with a ghost in my parent’s house.
I won’t get into the details of that here, but it was interesting to say
the least. I graduating high school in 1992 and attended Cisco Junior
College. I received my associate degree from there in 1994 and had the
brilliant idea of becoming a doctor.
So, I headed to
Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos. It was here that my
common sense returned and I decided that being a doctor would be too
hard and too much school. Instead, I chose physical therapy. After one
year of partying too much in San Marcos, I was accepted into the Texas
Tech Physical Therapy School in Lubbock. This was 3 long grueling years
of work and a ton of mom and dad’s money but I got my masters degree in
PT in May of 1998. I had my son in 1998 as well. This was a pretty
busy time in my life.
As excited as I
was to enter the real working world, when I got my first job, I hated
it. It was nothing like what I had anticipated and of course the dream
of making a ton of money just wasn’t coming true.
Much to my
parent’s dismay, I quit working as a therapist a year later and decided
that my love of science had led me to teach high school biology.
(Apparently money wasn’t the big motivator in THIS decision!!) I went
back to school… AGAIN…and earned my secondary teaching certificate while
teaching at a high school near Dallas. I loved this at first, but I was
shocked how much different high school students are now than they were
when I was in school!!!
It was during
these five years of teaching high school that I become an active
paranormal researcher. (People have asked me if it was because the dead
were more fun than the high school students…. I refuse to answer that
question) I didn’t go to ‘school’ for it… I basically got into it
because of a dream that I had. Again, I’ll spare you the details. But
in 2001 I started our group, “Central Texas Ghost Search” with just a
camera, a couple of friends, and a great curiosity.
Since then I have
moved to Abilene (close to Cisco) where our group is based now. I
returned to my old stomping ground to teach biology at my old junior
college. Our group has grown tremendously, as has our knowledge of the
paranormal and our methods of research. My son, now ten years old has
even been somewhat active in our informal investigations. It’s amazing
what can be seen through a child’s eyes when he has never been told he
can’t see something. It’s too bad that adults have lost the sense of
open-mindedness that would allow them to see what our group is always in
search of.
I am in my fifth
year of teaching biology at Cisco Junior college and still loving
it just as much as always. I became an "Army Wife" in June of '08
and my husband is currently deployed to Afghanistan. Please pray
for our troops over there. It is not a good situation over there
right now at all.
Where will we go
from here??? I have no way of knowing what direction my life will take
now. It has definitely been a winding road but it is a road filled with
life’s mystery, pleasures, pain, and wonder.
So, as you’ve
read… I’m not some psycho cult-leading ghost hunter or anything. I’m
just an ordinary mother, teacher, army wife, and paranormal investigator. Now that
you know something about me, go to our web forum and tell me something
about yourself. Thanks for taking the time to read about the founder of
Central Texas Ghost Search. |
